Now THAT is a Good Bloody...
'Tis the season for mixing cocktails, and ealier this week Pierre threw down the gauntlet with his pomegranate martini recipe. Generally speaking, I'm not known for my recipes, although I cook up a mean pot of Kraft Mac 'n' Cheese with ketchup. I have, however, mastered the art of bloody mary's. Nothing says football playoffs or brunch with friends like a bloody mary, as the delicate interplay of horseradish and tabasco cavorts in the back of your mouth and the vodka warms your belly. I can personally guarantee that if you master this recipe you will never be able to drink the swill at your favorite bar again, and will be worshipped as a god among your bloody mary drinking friends.
CroutonBoy's Killer Bloody Mary
Fill glass with ice
Pour in 1-2" of vodka (I prefer lemon-pepper infused vodka, but suit yourself)
Add 1 tsp. horseradish
Add worcestershire sauce (to taste)
Add 5-7 shakes of celery salt
Add 1-2 tsp. of Old Bay spice (the most important ingredient)
Add a few shakes of pepper
Add tobasco or other hot sauce to taste
Squeeze in juice of one quarter of lemon or lime
Fill to top with Clamato (Spicy V-8 will also do, but Clamato is the best)
Pour into shaker, shake 3-5 times, and return to glass (or stir rigorously).
Garnish with pickle spear (the best), olives and/or pepperoncini (celery works, too, but booooooring)
It's not for the timid...it's got a nice kick to it. And it stands up to the Dennison Chili Fork-Test. But it's really good...I hope you all enjoy it!
