Is Scrubs Over (the Rainbow)?
This may or may not be the last season of Scrubs. It depends on ratings, money and solar wind. It's complicated.
The show is also complicated. It's a sitcom full of overly silly antics and terrible jokes and it is also incredibly funny. It is superficial and surprisingly deep. It has heart. Sacred.
The main character of J.D., played by Zach Braff, is leaving for sure. That much is certain. Even if Scrubs returns for its 9th season it will be Braffless. This could wreck havoc on the appletini business- easy on the tini.
Scrubs has seen its share of weirdness over the past few seasons. It had episodes shown out of order without so much as a wink by NBC and it jumped networks, from the aforementioned non-winker to ABC - which actually owned the show the whole time it was in production. And somehow it has survived.
Until now. Maybe. Probably. Who knows.
What I do know is that the Scrubs has done something that few shows have: it has portrayed fatherhood in a manner of bromance slapstick without dumbing it down or relying on stereotypes (well, not dad stereotypes). It has shown men as responsible- hell, they are doctors, making the tough decisions and doing the right thing, and all the while maintaining the playfulness that is their charm.
It's good stuff, and it will be missed.
Or not.
NEW! The last montage. Fitting.
