Give It Away, Give It Away, Give It Away, Give It Away Now Including Canada!
Father's Day is nigh and if dads love anything besides their children, spouse/significant other, sports, beer, porn and quoting movies from the 80s, it's books. Am I right? Of course I am. I'm a dad, I get the newsletter (which is awesome, but it's no book).
Here's how you can make dad feel special 2-3 weeks after his "holiday." Win him some books! Yes, the same books I was talking about in the previous paragraph!
This contest is open to residents of the USA and Canada, respectively, but only those that own a mailbox. P.O. Boxes are not allowed! Also, the rest of the world, learn to read.
There are two great prizes. The first is called the Dads and Grads Giveaway, but we're just calling it the Dads Giveaway because a) we're DadCentric, not GradCentric, and 2) everyone knows that grads go straight from school to hiking across Europe and their winning might actually be a chance for crafty and learned citizens of the world to abuse the system and have guilable graduates sneak books to them. It's a loophole and we're against it.
Here's the cool part, the prize isn't just one book. It isn't just two books. It isn't just three books. Feel free to scroll down to the end of this paragraph. It isn't just four books. It isn't just five books. It isn't just six books. It isn't just seven books. It isn't just eight books. It isn't just ... wait, yes, it's eight. Eight books like these:
The Nine Lessons By Kevin Milne
Do-Over! By Robin Hemley
The Man's Book By Thomas Fink
BoneMan's Daughters By Ted Dekker
An Honorable German By Charles McCain
The Richest Man in Town By W. Randall Jones
Lincoln on Leadership By Donald Phillips
Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
And by like these I actually mean these are the books you'll win in the Dads Giveaway.
The second prize is called the Summer Beach Bag Books Giveaway but we're doing it anyway. It consists of the following:
1. The Secret Speech By Tom Smith
2. Julie and Julia By Julie Powell
3. Swimsuit By James Patterson , Maxine Paetro
4. Obama's BlackBerry By Kasper Hauser
5. A Summer Affair By Elin Hilderbrand
6. When You Are Engulfed in Flames By David Sedaris
7. Any Minute By Joyce Meyer , Deborah Bedford
8. The Book of Lies By Brad Meltzer
9. Kill for Me By Karen Rose
10. Miscarriage of Justice By "Kip" Gayden
I took the liberity of numbering them for you to make sure you noticed that there are even more books behind door two. We never stop giving.
Here's how you play. In the comments share a funny story about your dad or a dad you know. We'll pick our favorites, which sadly means we'll like some of you less, and then we will throw books at them. It's a win-win (unless you lose). You have until next Wednesday (6/23).
Happy reading.
