Some of us dads have princess issues. OK, one of us REALLY has issues.
But when it comes to nacho cheesy snack food, we can all agree on this.

Someone recommended I peruse Pittsburgh Dad, the video creation of Chris Preksta and Curt Wootton, which chronicles the rantings and ravings of the title character (played by Wootton) about family, kids and life in general. He's a throwback to the meatheads of yore (OK, not Meathead nor Archie Bunker -- more like Peter Boyle's Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond), spouting off a lot of vitriol like a cranky old man chasing kids off the lawn.
Meh. It's not helped by a lame laugh track, either.
However, I will give my DadCentric thumbs up to Pittsburgh Dad's series of movie reviews, which drop the canned laughter to create some of the real stuff thanks to his narrow view of pop culture and the world. Here's one of my faves:
Pittsburgh Dad Tricked into Seeing Magic Mike
If you don't mind knowing the entire plot of the new Batman flick, you'll also want to check out his review of Dark Knight Rises.

35 years ago today, the original Star Wars debuted. If that makes you feel old, join the club. And if you've somehow managed to avoid seeing it, here's a summary.

A mother taking her child to the playground stumbles onto her worst nightmare on the cover of this week's "Mother's Day" edition of The New Yorker magazine, drawn by artist Chris Ware.
Men!
With children!
Test your powers of observation and deduction by looking closely at this scene and telling us exactly what the woman in pink, who we'll call SanctiMommy, finds so awry and off-putting about what she sees?
Answers after the jump.

Ok, not sure that this puppet show is "fun", per se, but it is pretty haunting. Literally and figuratively.

Although RuPaul (as far as I know from my extensive research on Wikipedia) is not a father, she has some great advice for us dads of toddlers. In a nutshell (so to speak):
When we were expecting our twins, we toyed, very briefly, with the idea of co-sleeping.
And then we brought the kids home the first night and were like Hell to the No. We promptly put those little writhing screambots in a crib in the closet and never looked back.
But about a year ago, at less than two years old, one of the girls decided she was not going to nap ever again. After much negotiating and experimenting, she and I finally came to a compromise wherein she will sometimes go to sleep as long as I lie down with her on a crib mattress on the floor of what will eventually be the nursery if we ever get around to moving the kids out of the closet.
Those of you (I'm talking to the fellas here) who have had any experience with toddlers know that they will inflict blunt trauma to your balls anywhere from 2 to 12 times per day, per child, depending on how much time you spend with them. And if you co-sleep, I can only imagine that the number increases at least threefold.

This is slightly old, and there are better Walken impersonators out there, but it's pretty flippin' funny nonetheless.

Back in my day, everybody called their grandparents "Grandma" and "Grandpa". These days, it seems that kids have come up with all sorts of nicknames for their parents' parents: mine, for instance, refer to my wife's folks as "BeeBee" and "Buddy", and my parents are known as "Bubbe" and "Papa". Not bad, right? Those are tame in comparison to some of the ones I've heard: "MeeMaw", "Yaya", and "Pop Pop" are three that I could never say with a straight face. To be fair, most of the time it's the kids who come up with these names. Our crack staff of research interns scoured the nation to come up with this list of Least Popular Nicknames For Grandparents; when it comes time for you kids to bestow creative monikers on Grandma and Grandpa, keep this handy, to avoid any awkwardness or discomfort. (The complete list is after the jump.)
